With the theme ” Wings to the world: Flying Towards a Future of Endless Possibilities”, the Kalinga State University – Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management successfully conducted its 3rd Pinning and Capping Ceremony of Batch Paham Inara today, February 28, 2025, at Davidson Hotel, Bulanao, Tabuk City. Led by the Program Chairperson, Ms. Valerie A. Paloy, organized by the BSTM Third year students and faculty members. Participated by the Municipal Tourism Officer of Balbalan, Ms. Regine Faye D. Munda Cruz, KSU officials, CETHM faculty, Parents and Students.
The purpose of the ceremony is to recognize the achievements and honor the students’ hard work and accomplishments in their academic journey. CETHM Dean, Dr. Karen Razelle M. Duyan, represented by Mr. Rexon H. Gaston, said that the celebration is not just an achievement, but a launchpad. He explained that ceremony symbolizes the transition from classroom learning to practical application. The pins represent their commitment to excellence, integrity, and the pursuit of a profession that connects cultures and enriches lives, while the caps are symbols of their readiness, signify their preparedness to navigate the challenges and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
Ms. Glory Ann Karen C. Caldingon, challenged the students to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead with courage, determination and be fearless in pursuing their dreams. She also underscored the significance of the ceremony by acknowledging the tireless sacrifices and unconditional love of their parents and families. Their support that has been the backbone of their success, providing them the strength to persevere through the late nights of studying, the moment of doubt, providing everything they need financially, and the challenges that seemed insurmountable.
Dr. Joy Grace P. Doctor, University President, represented by Dr. Marilou Adora, Vice President for Academics and Student Development, emphasized the importance of humility in their lives that once they reach the highest pick of their career, the humbler they should be because they are not only carrying themselves but the university they come from. “Now, is the time that your parents will reap their sacrifices, their unending support, which has become your driving force to study well, and motivated each one of you to pursue your dreams. Cherish the moments that your parents are still with you and please make them always proud not only of your achievements but because of the kind person you are to them,” She added.
Municipal Tourism Officer of Balbalan, Ms. Regine Faye D. Munda Cruz, in her inspirational message, reminisced her experiences as a student and attested that studying is not easy, however, the rewards of knowledge are worthwhile. As the saying goes “The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet”. She also encouraged them to believe in themselves and always trust God’s plans, having faith that God is working along side with them.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Caps and Pins by Ms. Valerie A. Paloy, Program Chairperson, where she explained the significance of the Caps and the pins. Representative form the students, Ms. Joy Grace A. Famillaran, expressed her gratitude to their parents, teachers and to the university for providing them the knowledge they need and shaping them into the persons they are today.
“To our students, we remind you that the flight ahead is perhaps full of challenges, but we believe that the skills, values, and experiences you have learned, will serve as your runway. Come out to your comfort zone and be a shining tourism excellence ambassador and continuously make a good impact to yourself and to your family,” Ms. Krizel Faith M. Angog said in her closing remarks.
